Cowie selected to USA Cycling National Team
BC Cyclist will race in Europe this Sunday
Brevard, N.C. - Brevard College cyclist Tristan Cowie was selected to the USA Cycling's Mountain Bike National team, a part of USAC's National Development Program, as reported by Asheville Citizen-Times’ Karen Chavez this morning.
Cowie, a 2008 National Champion in the Short Track and Cross Country races, is one of six cyclists younger than 23 who will represent the United States at international races in Europe, including the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup No. 2 this upcoming Sunday.
Brevard College Cycling Coach Thad Walker had the following to say about Tristan, "He's really passionate about riding his bike," Walker said. "He's also very humble. He recognizes what the sport has done for him and he's willing to mentor the younger athletes. He's super nice during training, but once it's time for racing, he gets his game face on and is very focused."
