Men's soccer drops second straight to open 2010 campaignSeptember 3, 2010
Rock Hill, S.C. – The Brevard College men’s soccer team was handed their second loss and fell to 0-2 after dropping their second match of the season 2-0 to Winthrop University on Friday night.
Niclas Stolt (Kaarina, Finland) led the offensive attack of the Tornados with three of Brevard’s eight shots in the match. Freshman goalkeeper Pauli Jussila (Valkeakoski, Findland) was charged with his second loss of the season in as many matches.
Winthrop scored a goal in each half. The first came from Miguel Casajuana when he netted one at the 40:13 mark on a penalty kick . The second goal came at the 62:57 mark when Wylie Rea headed one past Jussila off a pass from Casajuana.
Brevard was outshot 27-8 by the Eagles. Winthrop also had the edge in corner kicks beating out BC 6-2.
The Tornados head into the weekend 0-2 and will open their home season on Sunday afternoon at p.m. when the Trojans of Mount Olive College come to Brevard College Soccer Field.
