Brevard, N.C. - Coach Michael Jones has released the Brevard College 2010-2011 Men’s Basketball schedule, as announced by the BC Sport Information Department.
The Tornados are coming off a season in which they won the 2010 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference tournament and advanced into the NCAA Division II Southeast Regionals for the first time since the program made the transition into Division II in 2008.
Brevard will play a 26 game regular season schedule, hosting 12 games in Boshamer Gymnasium, while being on the road for 14 games.
Brevard opens up the preseason schedule on November 3rd as Brevard travels to Knoxville, Tenn. to take on the University of Tennessee. This will be the first contest between the Tornados and the Volunteers and the game will be played in Thompson-Boling Arena at 7 p.m.
Brevard opens up the regular season with a non-conference home contest, hosting Belmont Abbey on November 20th in Time Warner Cable Arena.
The Tornados close out the month of November with a pair of contests on the road, traveling to Gaffney, S.C. to take on Limestone College on the 27th and finish the month on November 29th at Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, N.C.
December brings the first South Atlantic Conference game for Brevard in the 2010-2011 season as the Tornados travel to Anderson, S.C. to take on Anderson University. The Tornados jump back into non-conference action by hosting North Greenville on December 15th and traveling to face Winston-Salem State University the next night on December 16th.
Following a two-week break for Christmas, the Tornados are back in conference play on December 30th, traveling to Greeneville, Tenn. to face off against Tusculum.
Brevard’s first home conference game is set for January 5th against Carson-Newman as the Tornados tipoff against the Eagles at 7 p.m. Following another home game against Mars Hill on January 8th, Brevard is back on the road in Goodman Gymnasium against Catawba on January 12th. A home contest against Lenoir-Rhyne is followed by road games against Lincoln Memorial and Wingate before the Tornados return to face Newberry on January 26th.
Coach Jones’ team opens up their second run-through the South Atlantic Conference on January 29th hosting Anderson in their first trip to Boshamer Gymnasium. The Tornados close out the month on the road against Erskine on January 31st.
Road contests against Carson-Newman and Mars Hill sandwich home games against Tusculum and Catawba to open the month of February. The Tornados travel to Young Harris on February 14th, before finishing up the regular season with a contests at home against Lincoln Memorial and Young Harris, road games against Lenoir-Rhyne and Newberry before the season finale on February 26th at home against Wingate.
2011 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference tournament begins on various host campus locations on March 2nd, with the semifinals and finals taking place at Catawba Valley Community College on March 5th and 6th.
