Rennie wins playoff, captures individual title at NGU Fall Invitational

Tornados finish third among the teams at Cherokee Valley Golf Club

Tigerville, S.C. - Thomas Rennie captured his first tournament victory of the season in a one-hole playoff and led the Tornados to a third-place finish at the North Greenville Invitational, played at the Cherokee Valley Golf Club this afternoon.

The Tornados finished with a two-round total of 631 strokes, finishing behind Tri-County Tech and host North Greenville University.

Rennie led the Tornados in the event with a two-round score of 146, tying with NGU’s Andrew Beck after the first 36 holes. The junior from Aberdeen, Scotland took the victory after the one-hole playoff for the first victory for the Tornados men’s golf team in the 2010-2011 season.

Michael Stamper finished the two-day tournament with a 156, while Michael Jones (165) and Zach Christy (173) also took the field for Coach Matt Adamski. T.J. Hoard also teed off for the Tornados, finishing round two with an 81.

The Tornados are back on the links on Oct. 3rd as they head to Myrtle Beach, S.C. for the 11th Annual Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate tournament held at the Sea Trail Golf Club.
