Men's soccer can't top Lions, fall 3-1October 1, 2010
The Mars Hill Lions defeated the BC Tornados 3-1 on Friday
Mars Hill, N.C. - The BC men’s soccer team was unable to prevail as they fell to the Mars Hill Lions on Friday night, 3-1. The Tornados fell to 1-9-1 and 1-4 in South Atlantic Conference play with the loss to Mars Hill.
Richard Osterloh scored the first goal of the match near the end of the first half. Osterloh found the back of the net at the 42:22 mark to give Mars Hill a 1-0 advantage heading into halftime.
The Tornados came out in the second half and were able to return-fire with a goal of their own when Jaime Villacis (Miami, Fla.) scored his first goal of the season in the 52nd minute. Villacis took a pass from Jami Uuttu (Naantali, Finland) at the 52:58 mark to nod things up.
The Lions were able to beat the Brevard keeper, Jack Shaw (Simpsonville, S.C.) later in the second half. Shadi Harb scored at the 70:26 mark for his third goal of the season. The goal gave Mars Hill a 2-1 lead. Harb was able to add another goal in the final six minutes. He netted his second of the match at 84:56 giving the Lions the final 3-1 edge.
Shaw spent the entire game in net for the Tornados.
The BC men head back to the pitch on Wednesday when they play host to the Belmont Abbey Crusaders. Kick-off is set for 4 p.m. at the Brevard College Soccer Field.
