Brevard, N.C. - The Brevard College women’s soccer team was unable to find their groove against the Bulldogs of Wingate University on Saturday afternoon. The Tornados fell to Wingate 5-0 as they were outshot 35-4. Brevard falls to 3-8-1 on the season and 1-4-0 in South Atlantic Conference play with the loss.

Wingate opened up the scoring in the first 10 minutes of play as Kerstin Williams put one in off of her head on the corner kick and just out of reach of Crissy Moran (Franklin County, Va.) at the 8:17 mark. Kelly Adams took the corner that set up the goal for the Bulldogs.

Adams was involved in the scoring again when she took a corner kick at 29:25 and was able to find the back of the net for her first goal of the game. Adams’ kick came from just outside the right part of the box to make the score 2-0, which is where the score stayed heading into halftime.

It didn’t take long in the second half for Wingate to find the net again, as Adams found the net for the second time on the day. Adams took a free kick from about 10 yards outside the left side of the box and was able to put the ball in giving the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead in the 50th minute.

Wingate added a pair of insurance goals giving them the 5-0 lead when both Hannah Holsclaw and Izabella Miranda each found the goal.

Moran spent tall 90 minutes in net for Brevard. She was shelled with 35 shot, 24 of which came in the first half. Wingate was awarded with 15 corner kicks in the game, compared to Brevard’s two.

The women are back on the pitch Tuesday afternoon when they travel to Anderson, South Carolina to take on SAC newcomer Anderson College. Game-time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
