Brevard welcomes 15 opponents to Boshamer in the 2011 season
Brevard, N.C. - Coach Brenda Skeffington has released the Brevard College 2011 volleyball schedule, as announced by the BC Sports Information Department.
The Tornados have a pair of scrimmages before opening up their fourth season of play as full members of the NCAA Division II and the South Atlantic Conference. Brevard welcomes 15 opponents to the friendly confines of Boshamer Gymnasium, while taking to the road on 13 different dates for the 2011 season.
Brevard opens the preseason in Spartanburg, S.C. at Spartanburg Methodist for a scrimmage with the Pioneers on August 18th, before returning home to host a scrimmage date on August 20th.
The Tornados open up 2011 regular season play on the road at the beginning of September as they take part in the Johnson C. Smith tournament on September 3rd and 4th. Brevard opens up the two-day event with a match against host Johnson C. Smith, and will take on opponents Johnson & Wales, Assumption and Claflin throughout the remainder of the tournament.
Brevard remains on the road as they open South Atlantic Conference play for the third straight year against Lenoir-Rhyne as they travel to Hickory, N.C. on September 6th. The Tornados remain on the road and in conference action in their next game on September 9th against Mars Hill.
BC returns home to Boshamer Gymnasium for the 2011 home opener as they host Newberry, Anderson and Queens (N.C.) over a period of five days. The Tornados host the Wolves on the 16th, the Trojans on the 17th and the Royals on the 20th in their first opportunity to play in front of the home crowds in Brevard, N.C. on the season.
The Tornados return to the road for a three game swing against conference opponents Wingate and Catawba, and non-conference Belmont Abbey, before closing out the month at home on September 30th against Lincoln Memorial.
Brevard remains at home to open up October as they host four of the first five contests against conference opponents Carson-Newman, Mars Hill, Tusculum and Lenoir-Rhyne, while also making the trip to Greeneville, Tenn. to take on the Pioneers on October 4th.
Brevard makes the trip to Newberry on October 14th, before participating in their first tri-match of the month against Anderson and Francis Marion, hosted by Anderson on the 15th.
The Tornados return home for six straight contests, including a pair of tri-matches to end the month of October, before hosting Senior Day on November 1st against Mount Olive.
Brevard finishes the 2011 regular season on the road against Lincoln Memorial and Carson-Newman on November 4th and 5th.
