Morrison, Conner not enough as Tornados fall to Trojans, 3-1September 17, 2011
Duo both reach double digits in kills in conference loss
Brevard, N.C. - Ashlie Morrison had a season high 11 kills and the Tornados hit 16.9 percent from the floor, but it was not enough to offset Shannon Gillespie’s 17 kills as Brevard fell to Anderson in conference action in Boshamer Gymnasium, 25-20, 25-22, 23-25, 25-14.
Morrison led the way for Brevard (3-5, 1-2 SAC) with her 11 kills, while Kortney Conner also reached double digits with 10 kills on the afternoon. Bethany Stevenson added 28 set assists, while Lindsey Rogers led all players with 17 digs in the four set match. Jamie Atkinson also contributed six kills to go with seven total blocks in the match for the Tornados.
Hailey Pittman added eight kills and Kelley Lacey contributed six of her own as Anderson (4-8, 2-1 SAC) won their second conference match of the season. Alix Hooker added 14 digs and Jackie Harper contributed 20 set assists. At the net, Tiffany Rowe had five total blocks to help pace a Trojan effort at the net as Anderson had 11 total blocks in the game.
The Tornados remain at home on Tuesday, September 20th, as they welcome Queens University of Charlotte to Boshamer Gymnasium for a non-conference match. First serve between the Tornados and the Royals is set for 6:30 p.m.
