Watts honored as SAC Special Teams Player of the Week
Punter wins the award for the third time in his Brevard College career
Rock Hill, S.C. - The Brevard College Tornados football team saw its second winner in as many weeks as Eric Watts was recognized by the South Atlantic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts against Mars Hill College on September 17th.
Watts punted the ball four times for 209 yards, with three of his kicks traveling over 50 yards in successfully pinning the Lions inside their 20-yard line three times, in averaging 52.2 yards per punt attempt in the contest.
Watts opened the game with a field position turning 60 yard punt in the first quarter, tying the longest punt in the SAC this season, and then added 56 and 51 yard punts, consistently pinning the Lions on their side of the field.
The 2011 Preseason SAC First Team Punter, Watts leads the South Atlantic Conference in punting average by nearly 10 yards per attempt, averaging 49.1 yards per punt attempt. His 49.1 yards per attempt average leads all of the NCAA Division II.
Watts, a two-time recipient of the award last season, joins Derek Church (Offensive), Richard Ray (Defensive) and Austin Clark (Special Teams) as Brevard’s SAC Player of the Week recipients for the 2011 season.
