Mars Hill (8-5, 5-5 SAC) opened the first set, scoring six of the first eight points after kills by Chelsea Larsen and Laura Ann Huskey, but the Tornados (4-12, 0-9 SAC) rallied back to take a 10-9 lead on a combined block by Jordei Osby and Bethany Stevenson. The set remained close the rest of the way before Larsen was able to close out the 25-22 set victory with a kill off the assist from Hannah Wilson.
A service ace by Bethany Stevenson gave the Tornados the 4-0 lead in the second set as Brevard built a 17-7 lead following an Osby kill. The Lions responded with an 8-0 run on Wilson’s serve in cutting the lead back to 17-15, but the Tornados managed to keep the lead, going up 23-19 after a combined block by Morrison and Oswalt. The Lions would rally on four straight kills by Wixson to tie the set up at 23 apiece and back-to-back BC attack errors closed out the 26-24 set in favor of Mars Hill.
The Tornados again built a lead in the third set, going up 12-7 on a service ace by Gmitroski, but Mars Hill again battled back as the Lions tied up the set at 17 apiece on a kill by Evie Tafunai. The teams swapped the next six points before the Lions scored three in a row, including an ace by Tafunai on their way to closing out the match with the 25-21 victory.
