Brevard sends six to NCAA Southeast Regionals at McAlpine Park
Charlotte, N.C. - Madison Hill led the BC Cross Country team, recording the best finish by a BC runner at the Southeast Regional Championships hosted by Queens University of Charlotte at McAlpine Park on Saturday morning as the Tornados wrapped up their 2011 season.
Two weeks after earning Freshman of the Year and All-SAC honors, Hill concluded her freshman season finishing seventh overall in the field of 189, crossing the line with a time of 22:18.0 to earn All-Southeast Region honors. The freshman from Parkersburg, W.Va. missed out earning a berth to the NCAA National Championships by two spots as the top five advance to the National Championships hosted this year in Spokane, Wash.
Angela Canale finished 57th overall to finish up her sophomore season, closing out the year with a 24:05.8 over the 6K course and earned All-SAC Second Team honors in the 2011 year.
Heidi Kaartinen and Grace Meanor also took on the field as the Tornados fell short of fielding a team in the event, placing 137th and 188th in the event to round out the group for Coach Jack Daniels.
On the men’s side, All-SAC Second Team runner Josh Mower and Chris Shore took on the 169 man field, with Mower recording one of the best times of his career in crossing the line in the men’s 10K with a time of 34:09.6 to take 75th overall.
Shore finished two minutes back, crossing the line in 36:49.3 to place 133rd in the event as the Tornados close out the 2011 cross country season.
