Tornados raise over $1,200 at annual Play 4Kay Game
All proceeds from game went to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund
Brevard, N.C. - The Brevard College basketball teams hosted their annual Play 4Kay Day, on Saturday, February 18th, against Lenoir-Rhyne University.
All Brevard College basketball players, coaches and support staff wore pink t-shirts, sponsored by the Transylvania Regional Hospital throughout the game day events to promote awareness of the disease. All proceeds from the games are to be donated to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund and additional donations were also collected throughout the afternoon’s festivities. Donations from the February 18th events exceeded $1,200.
The Brevard College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee sold breast cancer awareness t-shirts and other assorted items throughout the evening, while the Transylvania Regional Hospital had a table set up in the lobby of Boshamer Gymnasium handing out informative pamphlets and literature on breast cancer. For the second straight year, the BC women’s starting lineup was announced alongside local breast cancer survivors and all parties involved had a great time at the event.
Over 600 students, fans and alumni filled the seats of Boshamer Gymnasium for this worthy cause, as the Tornados look to continue their support of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund for years to come.
The Play 4Kay initiative is a global, unified effort for the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's (WBCA) nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond.
