Brevard falls in both contests in final day at Limestone
Clemens and Mallory go deep in losses to Vulcans and Saints
Gaffney, S.C. - Home runs paced California University of Pennsylvania past Brevard College in the first game on the second day of the Saints Tournament, while the Tornados were unable to hold off Limestone in the tournament finale at Saints Field in falling 10-1 and 6-5 on Sunday afternoon.
Brevard falls to 7-5 overall in the 2012 season, while Alyssa Miller and Kayla Clemens suffer losses on the mound for the Tornados.
Game One: California (Pa.) 10, Brevard 1

The Tornados battled back in the bottom of the fourth, stalling the run rule as Brevard plated a run in the frame. A sacrifice bunt pushed Fowler over to third where Clemens drove her in with a double down the left field line, putting the score at 8-1.
CUP closed out the contest in the top of the sixth as Jillian Russell drew a walk to lead off the inning and Natter followed with a home run to straightaway centerfield. The Tornados were unable to answer in the bottom half of the inning to seal the victory for the Vulcans.

Brevard started the game off with a two out, two-run home run from Clemens off Dallas Heaton to open the scoring, but the Saints answered in the bottom half of the frame as Kirstyn Burleson posting a sacrifice fly scoring Alex Aburto to narrow the score to 2-1.
Clemens continued to lead Brevard both on the mound and at the plate in the top of the third as she doubled to left center to score Fowler for the Tornados third run of the game.
Limestone plated runs in both the third and the fourth innings to knot the game up at 3 apiece as Heaton drew a bases-loaded walk to score Kayla Kelly, while Kelly drove a double down the left field line in the fourth inning to drive in Taylor Wigmore to tie the game.
The teams swapped runs in the sixth inning as Meredith Davenport drove in Maddie Fletcher with a two-out single in the top of the frame, while Limestone answered in the bottom half of the inning as Brown hit a leadoff home run to centerfield to retie the game.
Mallory put the Tornados back ahead in the top of the seventh, driving a home run over the centerfield fence and threatened to add several insurance runs in the frame as Emily Boykin and Fletcher both moved into scoring position with two outs in the inning. However, Shelby Webb closed out the frame retiring the final BC batter to end the inning.
Heaton drew a walk to lead off the final inning, advancing to second on Jordan Smith’s sacrifice bunt, giving the Saints a runner in scoring position with two outs. Brown tied the game up with a double down the left field line scoring Smith and Wigmore followed with the game-winning double scoring Brown to end the game in favor of the hosts.
