Koivu paces Tornados on first day at Tusculum Invitational
Brevard sits 16th overall in the team standings after round one
Greeneville, Tenn. - Kim Koivu leads the Tornados in the first round of the Tusculum Invitational hosted at the Link Hills Country Club as Brevard currently sits 16th overall in the tournament after the first day, recording a team score of 311, 27-over par.
The Tornados are in their first action since their spring tune-up at the Tri-County Tech match on February 25th and their first tournament since the LMU Invitational held on October 17-18 in Harrogate, Tenn.
Individually, Koivu leads Brevard and is 23rd overall after the first day, recording a 37-36 on the day for a score of 73, 1-over on the course for the day. Thomas Rennie and T.J. Hoard recorded matching 79s on the course, with Rennie going 41-38 on the day, while Hoard flipped the scores with a 38-41 to sit in a tie for 70th overall.
Diego Ortiz is currently a stroke back in a tie for 76th, carding a 41-39 to finish the first round with an 80 on the board, while Michael Stamper rounds out the group for Coach David Nelson with an 81, going 36-45 on the day to sit in a tie for 86th.
Brevard remains in Greeneville, Tenn. for the conclusion of the two-day tournament tomorrow morning.
