Ortiz makes improvements on the course as Tornados take 11th

Koivu top BC individual in the tournament, recording three-over par

Wilson, N.C. - Kim Koivu, Thomas Rennie and Diego Ortiz all dropped strokes off their first round totals on the final day of the Barton Intercollegiate Tournament, hosted at the Wilson Country Club, as the Tornados finished up the two day event in 11th place overall.

Koivu was the top individual Brevard finisher in the tournament as the Tornados carded a two round score of 614 (308-306), to finish 11th in the team standings in their second action in the spring.

Koivu improved his score by one stroke, carding a 74 on the first day and came back with a 73 on day two to finish tied for 19th overall with a 147 on the tournament. T.J. Hoard finished three strokes behind Koivu, tying for 27th overall with a two round score of 150 (74-76).

Rennie dropped four strokes off his first round 81, coming off the course with a 77 on day two for a 158 on the tournament, tying for 61st overall, while Michael Stamper tied for 72nd overall with a two round total of 165.

Ortiz made the biggest improvement among all the golfers to take the course, shaving seven strokes off his first round 86 to card a 79 in the final round, tying for 72nd overall in his second action with the Tornados.

Brevard returns to the links next weekend as they participate in the Cherokee Valley Spring Invitational, hosted by North Greenville University. First round action begins on Monday, February 26th at the Cherokee Valley Country Club in Tigerville, S.C.
