Brevard takes on field at Western Carolina

Tornados battle at the Beynon Sports Surfaces Catamount Classic

Cullowhee, N.C. - Brevard sent four athletes to compete in the Beynon Sports Surfaces Catamount Classic held at Western Carolina on March 24th, as Coach Jack Daniels’ squad took on the field for the Tornados.

Heidi Kaartinen opened the event for Brevard, placing in the top 25 in the Women’s 1500 meter run, crossing the line with a time of 5:16.10.

Jordan Tager also took on the field in the men’s 1500 meters, also placing in the top 25, crossing the line 23rd overall with a time of 4:18.65.

Erik Gibbs finished 11th overall in the Men’s 800 meter run, finishing with a time of 1:59.89.

Willie Jones competed in the Discus event for Brevard, overcoming a foul on his second throw to bounce back with his best toss on the day of 37.23 meters, placing 19th overall.

Brevard continues their 2012 season on Friday, March 30th, as the Tornados compete in the Johnson City Invitational hosted by Milligan College.
