BC Earns Tie with Carson-Newman

Brevard, N.C.- A Taylor Hembree goal at 49:04 in the second half lifted the Brevard College Tornados to a 1-1 tie with the Carson-Newman Eagles on Wednesday afternoon.

Hembree scored on a cross into the box from Jamie Bundy, beating Carson-Newman goalie Tiarna McKenna low to the right. The Tornados put four of their six shots on goal in the contest.

Shortly after the Tornados knotted the game, BC keeper Brittany Webster deflected an elevated shot from Sidnee Edwards that would have recaptured the lead for Carson-Newman. Webster played a key role in the tie, keeping the Tornados in striking distance with eight saves on the afternoon.

Carson-Newman took a 1-0 lead at 34:32 on a Danna Stringle goal. Meleya Garrison picked up the assist on the scoring play, sending a cross into the box from the right side.

The Tornados return to the pitch on the road on Saturday, October 13th as they visit the Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters at 1 p.m.
