BC Struggles Against RailsplittersOctober 13, 2012
Harrogate, Tenn.- The Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters proved to be too much for the Brevard men's soccer team, defeating the Tornados 5-1 in South Atlantic Conference play on Saturday afternoon.
Lincoln Memorial's Mario Pinto recorded a hat trick for the second consecutive game, scoring against the Tornados at 39:35, 46:18, and 54:43.
Diego Deschamp got the Railsplitters on the board at 23:51 on a header off of a long free kick by Pinto. Following Pinto's three goals, Deschamp capped LMU's scoring by punching in the deflection of a save by BC keeper Jack Shaw at 74:24.
Sophomore Marcelo Betcer scored Brevard's lone goal at 75:16, sending home a rebound of his own shot after it was deflected in the box by LMU keeper Ryan Beckner. The Tornados put six shots on goal in the contest.
BC returns to the pitch on Saturday, October 20th as they host Virginia Intermont College at 4 p.m. for Senior Day.
