Andrade finishes third at SAC Championships

Brevard men's team finishes 8th

Chapin, S.C. - Alycia Andrade finished her career with a third-place showing at the South Atlantic Conference Championship meet, hosted Saturday by Newberry College. Andrade's time of 19:33 was 58 seconds behind SAC Champion Aubrey Morris of Carson-Newman. Lenoir-Rhyne's Kate Griewisch finished 2nd with a time of 19:14 and was named Freshman of the Year.

Morris (Chattanooga, Tenn.), Griewisch (Banner Elk, N.C.) and Andrade (Somerset, Mass.) were joined by Lenoir-Rhyne's Gennilee Eisenmann (Clayton, N.C.) and Tiffany Payne (Painted Post, N.Y.), Catawba's Olivia Jacobs (China Grove, N.C.), and Wingate's Amber Hines (Little Mountain, S.C.) on the 2008 Women's All-SAC team. Lenoir-Rhyne won the 2008 SAC team Championship, with Wingate finishing second and Carson-Newman third.

Brevard's Brittany Radenbaugh (Columbia, S.C) finished the event 36th with a time of 22:27. Meghan Grimes (Ft. Pierce, Fla.) checked in 47th in a time of 24:21, and Kristen Zerressen (Brevard, N.C.) placed 62nd in a time of 28:08. The Tornados did not have enough women's runners to place overall.

Brevard's men's team finished 8th overall. Mars Hill won the 2008 SAC Championship, followed by Wingate and Lenoir-Rhyne.

Wingate's Jayce Watson (Millersport, Ohio) finished the 8K course in a time of 26:18 to win the 2008 SAC Championship individually for the second year in a row. Tusculum's Simon Holzapfel (Nuremburg, Germany) finished second with a time of 26:26, and Lenoir-Rhyne's Jake Maidens (Lebanon, Va.) checked in third with a time of 26:37, winning SAC Freshman of the Year honors.

Joining the podium finishers on the All-SAC first team was a quartet of Mars Hill runners:  Justin Baker (Raleigh, N.C.), Trey McClain (Leesville, S.C.), Joel Barnett (Greenville, S.C.) and Will Mikolajczak (Triangle, Va.).

Leading the way for Brevard was Jonathon Lavelle (Tunnel Hill, Ga.), who finished 45th with a time of 30:37. Tiffen Tapia (Gainesville, Fla.) finished a sport behind Lavelle with a time of 30:39. Damon Martin's (Indian Trail, N.C.) 30:46 was good for 48th, and Ryan Forsyth (Chesapeake, Va.) finished 62nd with a time of 34:15. Michael de Kozlowski rounded out the Brevard team with a 63rd place finish, completing the course in 34:19.
