Tornados Compete in PowerSox Invitational

Hickory, N.C.- The Brevard College men's and women's track and field teams opened the outdoor season at the 2013 L-R PowerSox Invitational Saturday at the Irwin Belk Track as part of the Moretz Sports - Athletic Complex.

For the women, BC junior Angela Canale finished 2nd place overall in the women’s 5000 meter run with a time of 19:22.18.

Freshman Hannah Cook took 4th place overall in the women’s mile run, posting a time 5:41.72.

Tornados freshman Darianna Wilson rounded out Brevard’s top-10 finishers with a 7th place finish in the women’s 200 meter dash, finishing the event in 26.88 seconds.

On the men’s side, BC junior Erik Gibbs finished ran the men’s 800 meter 1:58.20 for a 9th place finish.

“We had a strong start to our outdoor track season,” said Tornados head track and field coach Thomas Cason. “We are really looking forward to our next meet at UNC Charlotte.”

The Tornados are next in action on March 16th as they enter the UNC Charlotte 49er Classic.
