Christopoulos Signs to Play ProfessionallyMay 21, 2013
Brevard, N.C.- Brevard College graduating senior catcher Christian Christopoulos has signed to play professionally with the Fort Worth (Texas) Cats of the United League Baseball.
The United Baseball League is an independent baseball league that consists of six teams in Texas and Louisiana that play from late May to the middle of August. The Cats open their 2013 campaign on Thursday against the Edinburg Roadrunners.
“I am very proud of Christian,” said head coach Matt McCay. “He has been a great player here at Brevard, and we are very excited for him to sign professionally. We love to see our guys work hard both in the classroom and on the field to earn a chance to pursue a career in baseball. This is a great reward -- we wish him all the best.”
Christopoulos made 101 career starts for BC, and collected more than 80 hits and 50 RBI’s in his career with the Tornados. As a junior, he hit .312 and was named the South Atlantic Conference’s Gold Glove Catcher.
