BC Cross Country Travels to Furman Invitational
Both teams finished sixth last week
BREVARD N.C. – First-year coach Adam Malloy and the Brevard College cross country teams are prepared to travel to the Furman Invitational Saturday at Furman University in Greenville, S.C.
Last week, senior Josh Mower paced the men’s team to a sixth place finish at the Eye Opener Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C. The Ramseur, N.C., native finished 20th with a time of 27:53.67, while freshman Marc DeLisle turned in a solid collegiate debut with a 22nd place finish with a time of 27:56.58.
On the women’s side, freshman Caroline Christiansen impressed with a 16th place finish in the 5K with a time of 20:36.22. Sophomore Hannah Cook wasn’t far behind while she finished 22nd with a time of 21:01.98. The women’s team finished sixth overall and improved dramatically from the 13th place finish in 2012.
Cook, last year’s SAC Freshman of the Year, and Canale, who had four top-10 finishes in 2012, will pace the Tornados as they were picked seventh and return three runners from last season.
This is the inaugural event for the Furman Invitational. The women’s team is slated to run the 6K starting at 8:30 a.m., while the men will tackle the 8K at 9 a.m. Live results will be available following each race at http://www.ptgrouponline.com/Live/2013/XC/Furman1/ and on www.furmanpaladins.com.
