Cook Tabbed SAC Cross Country Athlete of the Week

Cook was tabbed preseason first-team all-SAC as well

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Brevard College sophomore Hannah Cook has been tabbed as the South Atlantic Conference Cross Country Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Greensboro XC Invitational, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon.

The Havelock, N.C. native completed the 5K with the best Division II time at the Greensboro XC Invitational with a mark of 19:25.93. Cook’s performance was a season-best by over a minute and half.

“Hannah has begun to hit her stride recently. She is back to the form she was in at the end of the season earlier than she or I expected,” said head coach Adam Malloy. “Her focus level has been very high as of late, so it’s great that she can receive some recognition for the work she has been putting in.”

The reigning SAC freshman of the year, who finished third, finished 23 seconds in front of the nearest DII competitor. Cook was tabbed to the preseason first-team all-SAC squad.

Cook and the Tornados return to action Friday, Oct. 11, when they travel to Charlotte, N.C. to participate in the Queens Royals Challenge at McAlpine Creek Park.
