Brevard, N.C. – The Brevard College athletics department along with the head men’s golf coach Dave Nelson are excited to announce the signing of Josh Nelson to a National Letter of Intent to continue both his athletic and academic career at Brevard College beginning in the fall of 2008.
Nelson hails from Mooresville, N.C. where he attended and played for Mooresville Senior High School under Coach Charles Hopkins. While Nelson is in the middle of competition this season, he has a number of accolades on his resume.
Nelson was named All-Iredell County and All-NPC Conference in both 2006 and 2007. He was also named to the All-3A Midwest team in 2007 and has been named the Athlete of the Week on a number of different occasions.
Nelson’s accolades continued as he was the MJGO Tour Champion as well as the NJGC Tour Champion in 2006, and has been named the NPC Conference Golfer of the Year as well as the Iredell County Golfer of the Year.
Nelson has posted a +2.3 USGA handicap and has shot a career low round of 63 at the Mooresville Golf Course.
“We are excited to have been able to bring in someone of Josh’s caliber into our program,” commented Coach Nelson. “Josh will make an immediate impact in the fall and is a huge addition to our program as we move into full NCAA Division II membership.”
