FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga.- The Brevard College men’s lacrosse team lost their season opener 12-11 to Emmanuel College on Saturday afternoon.

Brevard (0-1) took an early lead with four unanswered goals. BC’s Ryan Taylor posted a pair of goals, along with teammates Mathew Dropuljic and Andrew Bonnie.

Emmanuel (2-0) got on the scoreboard at the 5:47 mark with a goal from Shawn Sagraves. Brevard’s Dropuljic quickly found the back of the net from an assisted pass from teammate Alsharif Blackman. 

Brevard got off to a comfortable 5-1 lead until Emmanuel forced BC to go almost ten minutes without a goal. Bob Thornley broke the timeline with an unassisted goal at the 4:26 mark.  Brevard proceeded to make two late goals to take the lead into the second half. 

Emmanuel continued to find the back of the net in the third quarter forcing Brevard to answer back. Brevard posted an unassisted goal from Alex Bazzell in the third. 

Brevard successfully brought themselves within one goal for the last minute of the game, but were unable to find the equalizer.

The Tornados return to action for their first home game against Lees-McRae on February 9 at 1 p.m.
