Tornados End 2-1 in Hilton Head

HILTON HEAD, S.C.- After rain delayed the Brevard men’s tennis team to match up against Wilkes University at the Spring TennisFest, the Tornados ended with a 6-3 loss against the Colonels finishing 1-2 while at Hilton Head.

Nathan Sabate and George Finch completed doubles Brevard’s only win 8-6 over Michael Kranz and Brendon Blachowski. The other two doubles sets were just as close resulting in an 8-6 and 8-5 loss for Brevard.

Sabate came up with another win while playing in singles against Dominic Parfianowicz. The duo played two closely matched sets but Sabate pushed for the win 7-5 and 6-2. David Taggart played Steven Wilson in No.1 singles finishing in a 7-5, 6-3 win.

Rory Northam pressed for a win as he went into extra sets against Max Appello. He won the first 6-2 but Appello took the second 6-2 while Northam fell short during the third 10-4.

The men’s tennis team will start their conference play at Newberry on March 11 at 2:00 p.m.
