Second Half Breaks BrevardMarch 15, 2014
BREVARD, N.C.- It was a tale of two halves between the Brevard College (0-5, 0-2 SAC) women’s lacrosse team and Wingate University (2-2, 1-2 SAC) as the Bulldogs pulled away for the 22-7 win over the Tornados on March 15 at the Tornados Lacrosse field.
Brevard’s Emily Medvedeff took the Tornados into an early lead after gaining possession off a Bulldog turnover in the defensive end. Melissa Harris picked up the groundball and seeked out teammate Medvedeff for the first goal of the game.
The Tornados scored a two goal run when Mevedeff added her second goal at the 9:23 mark of the first half while teammate Megyn Terrell goosed in a goal off a groundball frenzy in front of the crease at the 7:23 mark to help the Tornados towards their best halftime difference of the season at 13-7.
Three players tallied two goals each for Brevard including Medvedeff, Jamila Brown and Julia Gasston.
Wingate distanced themselves during the second half with an eight goal run while Brevard was unable to find the back of the net.
Kaelin Evans led the Bulldogs with six goals while teammate Laura Swanson added in five.
Brevard finished the first half with 15 shots with Wingate at 22 but the Tornados were only able to gain two more in the second while Wingate added 17 more.
Brevard will travel to Mount Olive in a non-conference match up on March 19th at 4:00 p.m.
