Brevard Can't Spark a Victory

BREVARD, N.C.- The Brevard College (3-8, 0-5 SAC)  women’s tennis team lost 8-1 against Wingate University (13-4, 6-0 SAC) at the McCoy Tennis Complex on March 30.

Katie Daugherty took home the solo win for Brevard while in the No.1 position. Daugherty lost the first set against Ali Evers at 2-6 then came back to win the second 6-3. The duo continued to a tiebreaker, finishing in a BC win from Daugherty.

Brevard was unable to finish doubles with a win despite a close set in the No.2 position from Nirvanna Silva and Claudia Hellman. The pair finished behind at 8-6 against Tiffany Williams and Layla Tanik of Wingate.

Michelle Prata went into extra sets against Caroline Holland while playing in No.2 singles but fell short for the victory.

Wingate continued to sweep past Brevard as they finished the singles round. Nirvanna Silva lost 6-3, 7-5 versus Tiffany Williams while teammate Ana Drummond wasn’t able to obtain a point against Sierra Parsons at No.6 singles.

The Tornados will compete against Lincoln Memorial for a South Atlantic Conference match-up on April 1 at 2:00 p.m.
