FOREST CITY, N.C.- The Brevard College Tornados lost a pair of close games to the Pfeiffer Falcons on Tuesday evening at McNair Field, dropping the opener 4-2 before falling 8-5 in the nightcap.

The Falcons scored two runs in the top of the 7th to break a 2-2 tie on their way to the win in the first of the two neutral site games.
BC righty JD Chaplain (L, 1-4) limited the Falcons to a pair of runs through six innings before running into trouble in the top of the 7th. After recording the first out of the inning, Pfeiffer’s Tyler Summers bunted for a single and scored the go-ahead run on a Matt Wade double.
Dustin Haithcox entered following the RBI double and got a quick out before Kyle Hackney’s single to center gave the Falcons a 4-2 lead.
After falling behind 2-0 in the 1st inning, BC tied the game in the bottom of the 5th on a Brock Helton single through the left side. John Slade, who scored the tying on the Helton single, reached on a triple to right with one out.
Game 2: Pfeiffer 8, Brevard 5
The Falcons posted six runs in the 7th inning to turn a 5-2 BC lead into a three-run advantage heading into Brevard’s final at-bat.
Righty Hunter McBride took over for starter James Phillips, who gave up just two runs over six strong innings, to start the 7th.
McBride, along with relievers Kyle Pittman (L, 0-1) and Bennett Hixson, allowed six runs (three earned) on five hits in the final inning.
Brevard's offense clicked early as a two-run single by Chad Fisher in the 1st got Brevard going, and Alex Bedenbaugh made it 3-0 in the 2nd with an RBI single to left.
The Falcons got two runs back in the 4th, but BC added a run in their half of the 4th on Eric Renegar’s squeeze bunt and another in the 6th on Matthew Proffitt’s fielder’s choice groundout.
