BC Wins Second SAC Match

BREVARD, N.C.- The Brevard College (5-10, 2-7 SAC)  women’s tennis team won their second South Atlantic Conference match against Catawba College (12-13, 3-7 SAC) 5-4 at the McCoy Tennis Complex on April 9.

Brevard started with a 2-1 lead at doubles after Katie Daugherty and Michelle Prata defeated Liz Renteria and Sloan Kessler in a tiebreaker. Nirvanna Silva and Claudia Hellman continued to win their doubles 8-3 against Maddy Henderson and Lauren Sledd while Jule Hermann and Ana Drummond came up short at 8-6 against the Catawba duo in No.3 doubles.

The Tornados clinched the win after winning the first three singles over Catawba.

Katie Daugherty won her match over Renteria after extra sets at 5-7, 6-3, 6-0. Jule Hermann also went into extra sets for a win against Maddy Henderson in the No.3 singles spot. Hermann started down after losing 2-6 but came back at 6-4 then 6-3.

Michelle Prata defeated Sloan Kessler again during No.2 singles in a straight set of 6-2, 6-0.

The Tornados have a quick turn around when they host Queens University of Charlotte at McCoy Tennis Complex beginning at 2:00 pm on Thursday, April 10.
