Men's Soccer Signs Six for 2014 SeasonApril 17, 2014
BREVARD, N.C.- Head Coach Bradley Morrison and the Brevard College men’s soccer team is pleased to announce Jesse Omezi, Bradley Thompson, Diego Juarez, Austin Wolfe, Garrett Rhodes and Tucker Baney as new player commitments to the 2014 season.
Head Coach, Bradley Morrison stated, “We are excited to welcome a great group of freshman to Brevard College!”
Jessie Omezi is coming to BC from Dartford, Kent, United Kingdom. Omezi participated in tennis and basketball while excelling in his soccer career. His adjustments to different positions on the field helped his team win the league as he tallied up the second highest number in assists during the 2012-2013 seasons for the Kent Schools League. Omezi also participated as a mentor for younger pupils at the Wilmington Grammar School for Boys.
Bradley Thompson of Longwood, Florida will come in as a center back for Brevard. Thompson was named to the 2013-2014 All-Star Conference team after starting on varsity for four years. He also participated in volleyball, tennis and track for Lake Brantley High School.
Diego Juarez is coming to Brevard locally from Hendersonville, N.C. He attended East Henderson High School and contributed 23 goals for the Eagles. Juarez was named Times News Player of the Year and All-Conference and Region. The Forward also excels in the classroom from his honor roll achievements in 2011 and 2012.
Austin Wolfe of Mill Spring, N.C. played midfield at Polk County High School. His concentration on soccer placed him as a leader for the 2013 season. He was placed on the All-Conference list then named as All-Region and All-Area Offensive Player of the year.
As a center defender from local Brevard High School, Garrett Rhodes was an AB Honor Roll student. He played two years on the varsity soccer team and was name team captain. During his last season, he was named all conference for the Blue Devils.
Finally, Brevard’s last addition to the 2014 group is Tucker Barney. Barney is also from Brevard High School and is a teammate of Garrett Rhodes. Barney is a midfielder who played two years of varsity soccer and placed as a captain both years. He finished his career at BHS as varsity MVP for the team in 2013.
Coach Morrison added, “Each of these players brings their own qualities to our team and will provide a great impact to our program. This is an exciting time for our players and staff at Brevard College.”
