Rhyne leads Tornados in Etowah Intercollegiate first round

ETOWAH, N.C. – Three Tornados women’s golfers competed as individuals in Monday’s first round of the Etowah Intercollegiate.


Brevard did not have team score because each team is required to have four players to register as a team. Kelsie Rhyne had the best day among the Tornados’ golfers, shooting a 92 to tie for 28th overall. ZeAijah Mooney and Stephanie Thomas finished the day in 31st and 32nd, respectively.


Newberry and Carson-Newman tied for the team lead at 23-over par. Fellow conference opponents Lincoln Memorial and Coker finished third and fourth, while Belmont Abbey rounded out the team field.


Second-round play will begin at 9:00 a.m. from Etowah Valley Country Club on Tuesday.
