Perley announces addition of Janelle ColeSeptember 26, 2014
BREVARD, N.C. – The two-time defending national champion Brevard cycling team has announced the signing of one of the country’s most sought-after athletes.
Janelle Cole, a Michigan native with an impressive cycling background, will matriculate at Brevard and join the team in January. She has won four national titles and eight national medals in cycling competitions and was the 2014 Michigan State Time Trial Champion.
“After visiting and riding with the Brevard cycling team last spring I knew that I wanted to become a part of this dynamic program,” Cole stated. “The coaching staff is solid, experienced, and dedicted to their athletes. Brevard College impressed me with its academic opportunities and personal faculty-to-student ratio. I’m looking forward to January when I will begin pursuing my elementary education degree and training with my new teammates."
Head coach Brad Perley is thrilled to welcome Cole to the program. “Adding Janelle Cole is another big step forward for our team,” he said. “We already have a fantastic women’s program, and we look forward to her contribution this spring. She brings a tremendous attitude with a large amount of racing experience, and we are prepared and eager to help in her continued success and advancement on and off the bike.”
In addition to her cycling success, Cole is also an accomplished competitive inline speed skater. She currently holds the national record in the 1,000 meter indoor event and was a member of the 2013 World Speed Skating Team.
