Cycling team has strong showing at Georgia TechOctober 5, 2014
CONYERS, Ga. – The Brevard College cycling team had another impressive showing at a race hosted by Georgia Tech in one of its final tune-ups for USA Collegiate Mountain Bike Nationals on the final weekend of October.
Logan Mulally headlined the Tornados’ cyclists with a win in the Men’s A Dual Slalom event. Teammates Walker Shaw and Callum McEwen finished third and fourth to give the Tornados their best team performance of the weekend.
Both the men’s and women’s A races in the cross country discipline provided highlights for the Tornados as well. Sarah Hill finished second in the women’s race, while Cypress Gorry and Zach Valdez came in second and third on the men’s side.
Hill earned her second runner-up finish of the weekend in the Women’s A Short Track race, while Allison Arensmen and Nicole Miranda ensured that the Tornados finished 2-3-4 in the event. Gorry and Valdez were third and fourth in the men’s event.
Brevard will compete next Saturday and Sunday in Banner Elk, North Carolina in a race hosted by Lees-McRae. The Tornados will then have a weekend off before USA Collegiate Mountain Bike Nationals, which will take place in Beech Mountain, North Carolina October 24-26.
