Both Cross Country Teams Compete at Falcon ClassicOctober 18, 2014
MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Both Brevard College men’s and women’s competed at the Falcon Classic hosted by the University of Montevallo on Saturday Morning.
Hannah Cook, the junior from Havelock, North Carolina paced the women’s side coming in 66th overall with a time of 26:02.80 in the 6K, while Leah Jostes, a freshman from Winter Haven, Florida finished less than a second behind Cook. Ashley Lowe, a senior from Graham, North Carolina, finished 55 seconds behind Cook and 88th overall.
Montevallo won the women’s meet with 58 points and two top-10 finishers while Wingate and Mars Hill rounded out the top three.
On the men’s side, Hassan Kiprono, the freshman from Iten, Kenya, led all Brevard men’s runners, finishing 38th overall with a time of 28:06.30 in the 8K. It was one of his best finishes on the year. Mount Olive, Mars Hill, and King rounded out the top three teams as Brevard did not have enough individuals competing to register a team score.
Brevard cross country teams return to action at the South Atlantic Conference Championship on November 8 in Salisbury, North Carolina.
