Noboa honored as SAC Special Teams Player of the WeekNovember 17, 2014
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Junior placekicker Alex Noboa has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in Brevard’s 66-0 triumph over College of Faith on Saturday afternoon.
Noboa’s 12 points against the Saints set the all-time single-game Brevard record for points scored by a kicker. He was a perfect 9-for-9 on point after touchdown attempts and added a 23-yard field goal.
Noboa missed just two kicks all year—a PAT against Catawba and a 31-yard field goal against then-No. 6 Lenoir-Rhyne. For the season, Noboa set Brevard single-season records with a 97.7 percentage on extra points and 42 successful PATs, topping his brother Ben in both categories after the elder Noboa went 41-for-42 in 2013. Alex’s seven field goals are second in Brevard’s single-season rankings, and his conversion rate of 87.5 percent on field goal attempts is tops in school history.
Noboa becomes the second Brevard player to pick up conference Player of the Week honors. Senior slot back Andre Overholt was also named the Special Teams Player of the Week after he racked up 95 kick return yards, including a season-long 54-yard scamper, at Division I Liberty on September 13.
