Williams tabbed AstroTurf SAC Player of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Katie Williams has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week, as she helped guide the Tornados to a 2-0 week.

The junior guard began the week with a 24 point performance during an 80-63 win over Mars Hill on Wednesday before scoring 27 points on Saturday during the Tornados 80-71 victory over Queens.

For the week, Williams averaged 25.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. She also knocked down 50 percent of her field goal attempts, including 7-of-13 from three point range. She was also 14-of-16 from the charity strip in the two games and averaged four assists per game.

During the victory against Mars Hill, She was a perfect 8-8 from the free throw line and shot 63.6 percent from the field while pulling down four rebounds and also dishing out four assists. Against Queens, Williams scored 27 points and was 5-for-9 from three point range and again had four dimes.

On the season, Williams leads Brevard with 17.7 points per game while she is third in the conference and also leads the team with 42 made three point buckets. She is also fourth in the league in three point percentage (41.6 percent).

Williams and the Tornados look for their fourth straight win tonight as they travel to Spartanburg, South Carolina to face non-conference opponent Converse for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
