Tornados compete at UCS Invitational in Winston-SalemFebruary 21, 2015
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Brevard College track and field team competed at the UCS Invitational on the campus of Wake Forest University on Saturday afternoon.
Alexis Williamson placed 12th in the long jump, with a distance of 4.83 meters while placing fourth in the triple long jump with an 11.45 meter jump. She was also first among South Atlantic Conference participants.
Heidi Kaartinen, China Davis, Leah Jostes, and Madison Smith competed in the women’s distance medley in 13:47.16, behind Anderson, Wingate, and Coker. They were also against schools like North Carolina State, Duke, Virginia Tech, and Winston-Salem State.
Jostes and Elena Raygoza finished 28th and 29th in the 300 meter run with times of 12:27.66 and 1237.29. Kaartinen also ran the 800 meter run with a time of 2:38.61.
Freshman, Anne Bennett placed 29th in the shot put event, throwing for 8.11 meters.

Brevard is next in action March 14, when it hosts its first track meet in over a decade at the new facility on the campus of Brevard College during the Tornado Relays.
