Brevard wins third straight match with 6-3 win over Davis & ElkinsMarch 6, 2015
HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Brevard College men's tennis team concluded its spring break trip with a 6-3 win over Davis and Elkins on Friday afternoon at the Chaplin Park Tennis Center. The Tornados improve to 4-2 on the season while the Senator's fall to 1-6 on the year.
Brevard picked up wins at No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 singles. Sabate won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3 singles while Rory Northam defeated Tristram Spitsnaugle at No. 4 singles, 6-4, 6-2. Christoph Plasa cruised to a 6-1 win in his first set at No. 5 singles before dropping the second set 6-4. He came back and won in the third set, 10-7.
Vincent Hamon defeated David Taggart at No. 1 singles 6-3, 7-5 for the Senators while Charles Brunel defeated George Finch, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Guilherme Hubsch downed Richie Liell at No. 6 singles, 6-4, 6-2.
The Tornados, however, swept through the doubles matches as Taggart and Northam won at No. 1 doubles, 8-4. Sabate and Finch won at No. 2 doubles over Hamon and Spitsnaughle, 8-5, while Plasa and Liell defeated the team of Hubsch and Maity Prado at No. 3 doubles, 8-2.
After playing three matches in five days, the Tornados will take a short break. They return to action on Wednesday to face the Bulldogs of Wingate University in Wingate, North Carolina. Click here to see the full results from today's match.
