Tornados fall, 6-3, to SAC foe Mars Hill

BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College men’s tennis team fell to Mars Hill, 6-3, on Saturday afternoon during South Atlantic Conference (SAC) action. The Tornados fall to 4-5 overall and 0-3 in the SAC while the Lions improve to 6-4 and 2-3.

Nathan Sabate picked up the Tornados only singles win at No. 3, defeating Markus Gattner 6-0, 6-2. Sabata and George Finch also picked up a win at No. 2 doubles over Gattner and Sam Lee, 8-5, while Richie Liell and Christoph Plasa defeated their counterparts by the same score.

David Taggart fell at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-2 while Finch fell 6-0, 7-6 (7-5) in a tough matchup against Alberto Ortiz. Rory Northam fell 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7) in a close match with Carlos Riesco at No. 4 singles while Plasa was swept at No. 5 singles. Liell lost at No. 6 singles to Blake Covington, 6-3, 6-2.

The Tornados play again tomorrow at 1 p.m. when they host the Eagles of Carson-Newman.
