Royals too much for Brevard on Saturday afternoonMarch 14, 2015
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Brevard College women’s lacrosse team lost, 19-2, to Queens on Saturday afternoon during South Atlantic Conference (SAC) play at the Queens Sports Complex. The Tornados drop to 0-7 overall and 0-4 in the SAC while the Royals improve to 5-4 and 3-0.
Alyssa Barrett and Nina Siu each had a goal for the Tornados while Allie McMillan had an assist. Kayla Henderson took the loss in net while making seven saves while Shelby Arsenault played he second half and also stopped seven shots.
Jena Ready and Caity Hamilton had three goals for the Royals while Becca Chen and Maggie Masters had two along with an assist each. Seven other Queen’s players found their way into the goal column. Danielle played 18:57 and got the win, stopping the two shots in net. Cait Cavallaro played 21:37 without any saves while Christine Wiese played the rest of the game, allowing the only two goals with one save.
The Royals just took over the game early with seven goals in the first 10:31 of the game on goals by five different players. Ready then scored two of her teams next four goals with just over 10 minutes to play in the half. They ended up with a 16-0 halftime lead while outshooting Brevard 25-2 in the first half.
After going up 19-0, Barrett and Siu finally got their team on the scoreboard with 10 minutes left in the game. Those were the only two shots for the Tornados during the rest of the game.
Brevard was successful on 10-of-21 of its clear attempts while Queens had nine less attempts and one more successful clear in the game. The Tornados were limited to one free-position shot on the game.
The Tornados will return to action on Wednesday as they host the Wolves of Newberry College at 2 p.m.
