Tornados drop contest to Carson-Newman, 6-3

BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College women's tennis team fell to Carson-Newman, 6-3, on Sunday afternoon during South Atlantic Conference (SAC) action at the BC Tennis Complex. The Tornados fall to 1-8 overall and 0-4 in conference play while the Eagles improve to 3-2 and 2-0.

Katie Daugherty picked up win at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-4, over Mallory Jackson while Jule Hermann defeated Jill Corsato at No. 2 singles 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (12-10), in a hard battled match. Patricial Guerreiro defeated Nirvanna Silva for one of four wins for the Eagles during singles play, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 3 singles.

Anita Maryskova fell, 6-3, 6-0, at the No. 4 slot to Brook Sanderson while Camille Cameron was defated at No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-4. The Tornados forfeited the No. 6 singles match.

In doubles action, Daugherty and Hermann defeated Jackson and Corsato 9-8 (7-3) in a very close match at No. 1 doubles. Silva and Maryskova were downed at the No. 2 doubles slot 8-3 to Sanderson and Sydney Ledington. Brevard forfeited the No 3 doubles match.

Brevard will look to pick up its first conference in of the season on Tuesday. The Tornados host the Trojans of Anderson University with matches beginning at 2 p.m.
