Tennis falls to Anderson, 7-2, in SAC action on Tuesday afternoonMarch 17, 2015
BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College men's tennis team fell to Anderson, 7-2, on Tuesday afternoon during South Atlatnic Conference (SAC) play at the BC Tennis Complex. The Tornados fall to 4-7 overall and 0-5 in the SAC while the Trojans improve to 9-2 and 6-1 in conference play.
David Taggart and Rory Northam picked a victory at the top doubles slot by defeating their counterparts, 8-5. Northam also earned a win at No. 4 singles, 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 (10-7). Nathan Sabate and George Finch dropped a close decision at No. 2 doubles, 8-6, while Christoph Plasa and Richie Liell fell in the third slot, 8-2.
Finch dropped a 6-3, 6-4 decision to Nicolas Ascarrunz, in a close match at No. 2 singles while Sabate battled Mateos Rivas in the tough No. 3 singles contest that went to three sets. Sabate dropped the first set 6-2 to Rivas before battling back to take the second set 6-3. He eventually fell in the third set tie-breaker, 12-10. Plasa fell in the No. 5 slot 6-2, 7-5. Liell fell at No. 6 singles and despite not winning a game, his effort was there.
The Tornados will finally be able to rest up after having played three matches in the last four days before traveling to Hartsville, South Carolina on Saturday. They will take on the Coker Cobra's with matches beginning at 1 p.m. Both teams will enter the match without a conference win.
