Lincoln Memorial sweep Tornados in conference playMarch 24, 2015
BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College women’s tennis team was swept by Lincoln Memorial, 9-0, on Tuesday afternoon during South Atlantic Conference (SAC) action. The Tornados fall to 1-11 overall and 0-7 in the conference while the Railsplitters improve to 3-5 and 1-4.
Camille Cameron had a strong match in the fifth singles slot. She won the first set 6-4 over Summer Robinson before falling in the second set 6-2. During the third set tie-breaker, Cameron eventually lost 1-0 (10-6).
Katie Daugherty was defeated at No. 1 singles 6-4, 6-3 while Jule Hermann fought hard in the first set at No. 2 singles. Hermann lost the first set 7-6 (7-3) before falling 6-2 in the second set. Priscilla Bulandres defeated Lisa Pettig in the third singles slot, 6-1, 6-1.
Nirvanna Silva dropped a 6-2, 6-1 decision at the No. 4 singles slot while Anita Maryskova fell 6-0, 6-1 in the sixth slot.
Daugherty and Hermann lost in the top doubles match 8-5 against Elena Vasilyeva and Gemma Goodland while Pettig and Silva fell at No. 2 doubles, 8-4, to Bulandres and Roksolana Prudyvus. Brevard forfeited the third doubles match.
The Tornados return to action tomorrow when they host Lenoir-Rhyne with matches set to begin at 2 p.m.
