Brevard falls to No. 36 Queens in SAC playMarch 28, 2015
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Brevard College men’s tennis team fell to Queens University, 8-1, on Saturday afternoon during South Atlantic Conference (SAC) action. The Tornados fall to 4-10 overall and 0-8 in the conference while the Royals, who are ranked 36th in the country and ninth regionally, improve to 8-1 and 3-1.
Nathan Sabate picked up his ninth win of the season and fifth victory in SAC play at No. 3 singles. He defeated Will Roberson 6-2, 6-3. David Taggart dropped his top singles contest against Per-Erik Soler in a close match. He dropped the first set 7-5 before falling in the second set 6-2.
George Finch dropped his match at No. 2 singles while Rory Northam fell at No. 4 singles, 8-2. Christoph Plasa fell at No. 5 singles 8-4 while Richie Liell was swept in the sixth singles slot.
Taggart and Sabate dropped a close doubles contest in the top slot, 9-7, to Soler and Andor Vas while Northam and Plasa lost 8-5 in the second doubles match. Finch and Liell lost 8-0 in the third doubles slot.
Brevard hosts Reinhardt on Tuesday with matches beginning at 2 p.m.
