Reilly, Wiedemann sweep SAC weekly awardsApril 7, 2015
ROCK HILL, S.C. –Brevard men’s lacrosse goal keeper, Andy Reilly was named Astroturf South Atlantic Conference (SAC) Defensive Player of the Week, while teammate Adam Wiedemann was named Astroturf SAC Offensive Player of the week, for the week ending on April 5.
This is the second time Wiedemann has earned the weekly honor while it becomes the third time for Reilly this year.
Reilly, a senior from Delmar, New York, combined for 20 saves in two games this week, helping the Tornados pick up two victories. He had a GAA of 4.74 and a save percentage of .714.
Against Lees-McRae on March 31, Reilly turned away six shots of the 22 he saw while allowing his lowest goal total of the year with four. During a 5-4 overtime win against Lincoln Memorial on Saturday, he had 14 saves in the contest, including one with two seconds left in regulation.
The senior goalie ranks third in the conference in save percentage (55.3) and is 16th among Division II goalies.
Wiedemann, a freshman from Brampton Ontario, had an impressive week as well on offense. He had a career-day against Lees- McRae with 12 points (five goals, seven assists) while dishing out an assist against Lincoln Memorial on Saturday.
Wiedemann ranks first in the conference in assists (33), goals (35), and points (68) and is fifth among Division II players in points per game (4.86). He is also the top freshman in the country in that category as well.
Both players have been instrumental in helping the Tornados (8-6, 3-4 SAC), who are only in their second year, clinch a playoff berth for the first time in program history. They will help Brevard seek its ninth win of the year against the Cobras of Coker College on Saturday.
