Tornados fall in final road contest of season to Catawba

SALISBURY, N.C. – The Brevard College women’s tennis team dropped a South Atlantic Conference (SAC) contest to Catawba, 8-1, on Saturday afternoon at the Johnson Tennis Center. The Tornados fall to 1-15 overall and 0-10 in the SAC while the Indians improve to 11-12 and 2-9.

Katie Daugherty had the only Tornados win in the top singles slot over Liz Renteria. She defeated her opponent 6-1, 6-2. Jule Hermann lost in a two set defeat to Kristen Rocko in the second singles slot in 7-5, 7-6 (7-5), which was a close match.

Lisa Pettig lost 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3 singles while Nirvanna Silva lost 6-1, 6-1 to Sloan Kessler in the fourth singles match. Camille Cameron was swept at No. 5 singles while Anita Maryskova lost 8-2 to Rachel Rudisill in the bottom singles slot.

The combination of Daugherty and Hermann lost in the top doubles match to Renteria and Rocko by a score of 8-5 while

Pettig and Silva lost by the same score in the second doubles match. Cameron and Maryskova lost 8-4 to Kessler and Rudisill in the third doubles match.

Brevard hosts Tusculum tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. in its season-finale.
