Tornados to raise money for A Crucial Catch at Limestone gameOctober 16, 2015
BREVARD, N.C. – Saturday night’s football game with Limestone has been designated as a fundraiser for A Crucial Catch, a nationwide campaign to promote breast cancer awareness and encourage annual mammograms spearheaded by the American Cancer Society and the National Football League.
Every dollar made from ticket sales on Saturday night will be donated to the American Cancer Society in support of the fight against breast cancer. Fans will also be able to make additional donations as they enter the stadium gates, at the face painting stations, and at the concession stand.
Sports teams, businesses, individuals, and charitable organizations around the country unite to raise awareness and funding for research and treatment of breast cancer throughout the month of October, which has been designated National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
“Our annual A Crucial Catch game helps our student-athletes understand the impact of giving back and bringing attention to issues such as breast cancer awareness and importance of early testing,” said Associate Athletic Director Myranda Nash, who is spearheading this year’s fundraising efforts. “Many of these young men have women in their lives impacted by breast cancer and feel pride when they can wear pink gear in remembrance or honor of their loved ones.”
Fans in attendance at Brevard Memorial Stadium will see the Tornados with several pink accessories on Saturday nights. Players will wear pink shoelaces, arm bands, sleeves, and tape in support of A Crucial Catch. Brevard’s women’s basketball team will be on hand to provide free pink face painting for fans, and pink pom poms and glow sticks will be given away as well.
Saturday’s game will be televised locally on WMYA My40, which is available on over-the-air channels 40.1 and 13.2 and as part of local channel packages from satellite television subscribers. Comporium subscribers in Brevard can view the game on channel 110. The pregame show will begin at 6:30 p.m. with kickoff slated for 7:00.
