Men's Soccer adds two for 2009 season
Jack Shaw and Paul Bergvin commit to join the Tornados
Brevard, N.C. - The Brevard College Sport Information Department and Head Soccer Coach Juan Mascaro are pleased to announce that Jack Shaw and Paul Bergvin have both committed to attend Brevard College and play soccer in the upcoming 2009-2010 season.
Shaw, hailing from Simpsonville, S.C., comes in as a goalkeeper. The 5-10 Mauldin High School product, has lettered in soccer for three years as a Maverick under Coach Joe Siatkowski. Shaw also was the keeper for the SCYSA U-17 State Cup Champions and has an interest in wrestling and mixed martial arts, having achieved black belt in 2001.
Shaw is also his team representative to the Senior Class Leadership Council at Mauldin.
Bergvin, a midfielder, comes to the Tornados from Crossville, Tenn. by way of Stone Memorial High School. The 5-7 Panther was an All-District performer in 2007 and 2008 as team captain, and was also named MVP of the team in 2007. For his career, Bergvin has recorded 17 goals and 50 assists.
Bergvin was also on the Cross Country team at Stone Memorial.
The Tornados went 5-14-1 (1-7) in their inaugural season as NCAA Division II and South Atlantic Conference members.
