Turner named all-conference for second consecutive seasonNovember 18, 2015
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Offensive lineman Josh Turner has been named second team all-South Atlantic Conference after a vote by the league’s coaches, marking the second time that the sophomore has been named an all-SAC performer.
“Since Josh stepped on the field he’s been an outstanding leader amongst the group,” said offensive line coach Kevin Canty. “He works hard in the offseason and in practice every day. His effort and attitude is unparalleled and he deserves every bit of recognition that he gets.”
The Douglasville, Georgia native started every game of the 2015 season as the team’s primary left tackle and was one of the offensive line’s most steady performers this season. He graded out at 94 percent on effort and 90 percent on assignments throughout the season. He also accumulated 43 knockdown blocks in 11 games on the season.
“I'm very proud of Josh being named all-conference for the second straight year,” remarked head coach Paul Hamilton. “He's been a staple on our offensive line from the day he arrived at Brevard. He has a chance over the next two seasons to be one of the best linemen to ever play in our football program.”
Turner has now earned all-conference recognition in both of his collegiate seasons after receiving first team honors in 2014. Michael Gruber and Kelvin Jeter each were named all-conference three times during their careers, a mark that Turner can equal with another stellar season in 2016.
